Subject: Submission - Dalkeith redevlopment Plan (Precinct 18)
Importance: High

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Please accept this as a form of public feedback from Dalkeith residents who have resided here in excess of 50 years. This written submission is in relation to the proposed Draft of the Dalkeith Redevelopment Plan (Precinct 18). Whilst we are not against sensible and sustainable development of suburbia and progress planning for the future, we would like to voice our dissatisfaction of how this ‘Draft’ has been developed and presented and with that, voice our objection to many of the proposed ideas contained within it.

We support:

  • Redevelopment which preserves the amenity and ambience of the area;
  • The restriction of any commercial and/or retail development to the existing commercial area on Waratah Avenue i.e. between Adelma and Alexander Roads;
  • No hotel and/or motel in Dalkeith;
  • Commercial areas to be limited to building heights of three (3) storeys maximum;
  • Commercial areas to be zoned mixed residential;
  • The Plan to include expanded community uses for aged care;
  • Residential areas to be limited to 2 storeys maximum;
  • Residential owners having the right to redevelop/subdivide their property within guidelines;
  • No building of flats and/or apartments in any existing residential zone.

The area of Dalkeith has long been recognised as Perth’s premier suburb and many of us have worked long and tirelessly to enjoy the wonderful, leafy, relaxed and peaceful lifestyle that we do. Please ensure that our lifestyle is maintained whilst developing a rejuvenated and village style commercial precinct.

Yours sincerely
