Dear Mr Foster,

Dalkeith Redevelopment (Precinct no. 18) Concept Plan- December 2007.

We object strongly to the above plan. Having lived for seven years in Subiaco, we examined numerous properties for an extended period before deciding in early 2007, to buy and settle into a family friendly and attractive home in Dalkeith. The suburb stood out because it represented much of which one had difficulty in obtaining in most locations, ie an ambience for peaceful living,  mainly quiet streets, attractive gardens and harmony.

The unforeseen arrival of Concept document in December, threw a shadow over our new lifestyle and figuratively (?) speaking, over the back fence, with  suggested two way traffic laneways and potentially several stories of high density living, among numerous other matters which will no doubt occupy the minds of yourself, associates and Councillors who donate of their time and intellect to the community

As you will receive many submissions, we will confine our letter to supporting the total aims of PADD,  and declare membership of this organisition.

In fact, if there was a movement for abandonment of the whole proposal, I would also support it – we just cannot see a benefit to the overall populace of Dalkeith and environs and do not feel in any way deprived by the status quo. If the majority of residents share this view, one would expect to hear no more, including from those with vested financial interests and perhaps politically driven to “high density” suburban invasions.

Many plans and  outlines become grandiose and despite attempts at professionalism, can proceed exponentially and are presented in such a manner as to give satisfaction if , say 50%, is finally stamped.   If, heaven forbid ,such is the case in this instance, then the current submission is gratuitous and arrogant, albeit unintentionally or otherwise.

We would appreciate being involved in any further discussions and proposed public meetings.

Yours sincerely,

Denis and Myrna O’Meara
Dalkeith
