Subject: Proposed Dalkeith Development Plan

We moved to Perth in late 1979 with our two daughters and son and purchased our house in Dalkeith in March 1980.  We looked at well over 100 houses in more than 20 different suburbs and attended many auctions.  Based on what we learned from this effort, we decided on Dalkeith because it rated highest in our appraisal for beauty, location (relative to schools, the city centre, UWA, shopping, local amenities), neighbourhood and neighbours.

We consider our decision to purchase in Dalkeith as one of the best we have made and living here has suited our needs to perfection.

Proposed Development Plan for Dalkeith

The proposed development plan is the first step in converting Dalkeith into an high population density, high rise buildings area.  This will be achieved through the combined powers of local, state and federal governments working together with builders, developers, some Dalkeith residents and non-resident speculators.

Whatever words or phrases that may be used to describe this plan and the others that will follow in quick succession, the goal is to increase the value of the land in Dalkeith for some owners and maximise the revenue collected by government authorities at local state and federal levels.

This will be done with total disregard for the current land owners who are resident in a property on their land and who prefer to maintain the beautiful, spacious ambience of Dalkeith.

Proposals

That there be no changes in Dalkeith and no changes to building codes or attempts to increase the population density of Dalkeith by increasing the density and height of new construction and/or alterations of existing buildings.

That there be only one vote per land owner for any proposed change and only if the land has been owned for a minimum of ten years and the owner currently resides in a property on the land .

That we use all legal means to prevent Local, State and Federal government authorities from imposing change on Dalkeith that has not been approved by 75% of the owners qualified to vote on the changes as per the restrictions set out above.

We should set goals for short, intermediate and long term financial requirements to prevent the attempt to turn Dalkeith into an high density, high rise living area and seek pledges to cover those needs.
