Dear Mayor and Councillors,
I am writing to express my concerns about the proposed development in the Dalkeith Village area on Waratah Ave.
I am the owner of the property at 14 Philip Rd therefore the proposed development will have a direct impact on my family and our daily lives as our property backs onto area 8 of the proposed development.
The following are some of the concerns I have regarding the proposed development.
- Loss of privacy as proposed apartments will look straight into our property.
- Increased security issues because of increase in number of people coming to the Dalkeith area, particularly if a hotel or tavern is built.
- Increase in the level of noise particularly if a hotel or tavern is built.
- Loss of the community village feel.
- Loss of community facilities, in particular for elderly people.
- Increased traffic volume on feeder roads into Dalkeith and also on Waratah Ave therefore threatening the safety of children walking to and from Dalkeith School.
- Increase in traffic using Philip Rd as an access road.
- Decrease in the value of our property because of the above reasons.
We decided to live in Dalkeith so our family could be raised in a safe, quiet community, NOT one where our neighbours are a hotel or tavern and our view of the tree tops is blocked out by high rise apartments and our previously quiet street is a busy traffic thoroughfare.
With the Claremont development being so geographically close to Dalkeith, I feel that another large development in this area is unnecessary and unsustainable.
I also feel that there has not been adequate community consultation regarding this development.
I look forward to your response regarding my concerns.
Regards
Blair Dixon
