Subject: UPDATE TO PADD SUPPORTERS - 5 JULY 2008

July 5th - Dear PADD supporters,
Please read the attached proposed motion for the Council meeting of 8 July put by Cr Mazzuchelli which proposes that the Steering Committee be disbanded immediately and which, amongst other things, directs administration to prepare a new Concept Plan "using the parameters suggested by the Commercial Landowners" (ie, 15m and 4 storeys in height).

Also attached is a copy of the Questions on Notice to be put to the Council to be addressed at the meeting on 8th July.

The efforts of the Steering Committee are being stymied by the Council and the Mayor has not allowed us to have a Steering Committee meeting since 19 June.

The minutes of the Steering Committee meetings of 15 May and 19 June remain unconfirmed.

Cr Hipkins has spent a considerable amount of his own time collating all the Steering Committee's recommendations in one document and has suggested an agenda for the next Steering Committee meeting. His agenda was rejected by the CEO outright on the basis that Cr Hipkins had no business preparing such a document.

No satisfactory explanation is being given to us by Council as to what is going on and what Council's intentions are from hereon. We urge you to attend the next council meeting on Tuesday, 8 July 2008 at 7.00pm to support us in our continuing battle with Council over this issue.
