Subject: UPDATE TO PADD SUPPORTERS - 31 JULY 2008

Dear Padd supporters,

I am pleased to report good news to you following the Council meeting of 22 July and the Steering Committee meeting of 31 July 2008.

Important advances have been made and they include

• a confirmation of the minutes of the Steering Committee meetings held on 15 May and 19 June 2008
• the success of Cr Hipkins' motion put to the Council at its meeting of 22 July and the defeat of the major points of the motion put by Cr Mazzucchelli at the same meeting
• a final report being produced by the Steering Committee for acceptance by Council.

The content of Cr Hipkins' motion and the final report of the Steering Committee is set out below for you to read.

What will happen next is that the Council planners will prepare and present drawings and models to the next Steering Committee meeting (date TBA) so that the planning parameters and controls for any commercial development on Waratah Ave can be finalised. The height parameter has already been set by Council at 12m with no greater than three storeys. It is the rest of the planning parameters and controls that need to be finalised.
